Quirky Fox’s annual small works exhibition returns this Wednesday (8 November) with nearly 90 original artworks from international and New Zealand artists.
Quirky Fox’s ‘Mini Mix & Match’ exhibition evolved from a small works exhibition introducing people to affordable original artworks to an exhibition that incorporates sustainability and showcases both aspects of Quirky Fox: a gallery and custom picture framer.
Each work ranges from 10 - 13cm square by emerging and awarding winning artists. Mixed media, photographs, ink, oils, watercolours and acrylics sit side by side in the diverse exhibition. Each artist showcases their unique style, with the only uniting theme being the size of the works.
Matted to a set dimension, a range of pre-made custom frames are available to “mix or match” with the artworks, allowing collectors to hang their new works when they get home or gift a one-off piece of framed art.
All the frames, matting, glass and finishing are completed in-house by Quirky Fox and to the same standard offered to customers throughout the year.
The mats and frames have been created from offcuts and discontinued framing materials saved throughout the year, stopping them from entering the landfill and allowing customers to frame the works at a reduced price.
Artists showcased in the exhibition come from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Ireland, England, America and the Philippines. Approximately 40 artists present their works, each producing 1-5 pieces.
Quirky Fox’s 2023 ‘Mini Mix & Match’ exhibition opens Wednesday, 8 November, from 5 p.m. at their High Street, Hāwera gallery; all are welcome to the opening, and works will be available to purchase on the night or online at www.quirkyfox.co.nz.
