Growing up in rural Australia, and before Linda even knew what natural history illustration was, she was drawing birds and plants from a young age. Her two most treasured possessions as a child were a tin of Derwent Artist pencils and a large book on Australian birds.

Linda went on to study and work in environmental science before discovering the Natural History Illustration degree at the University of Newcastle. She studied while continuing with part-time work and in her final year of study, was honoured to receive the Margaret Senior Wildlife Illustration Award for her final major project.

Though Linda works in a number of mediums, her primary choice is scratchboard, a board covered in a thin, smooth layer of white kaolin clay and sprayed with black ink that is etched into using sharp tools. Linda draws inspiration from her travels and observations of the natural world, and particularly enjoys creating both animal and people portraits that capture character, emotion and fleeting expressions.  

Linda's work has been recognised nationally and internationally in various art prizes and exhibitions, and her pieces are held in private collections in Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
